Quarantined in one day

Friday came with a vengeance.
Thursday I called the Dr. to get some advice about what the heck was going on with my daughter. She had broke out in some sort of rash and it was spreading. She was acting fine and they said not to worry about it if she didn't have a fever and wasn't acting abnormally, okay no signs of either. Then the night was horrible with both crying, and a fever and by morning it was on her face, hands and feet. Friday morning I took Brax to preschool and then I babysat a sweet little boy around Joz's age during preschool, while his Mom was assisting. I had made a doctors appointment for after Brax was done. They tell me to come in the side secret door, and ring the bell. Then take me into sterile (essentially plastic covered) room. We are avoided like the plague, I swear. As it turns out she had broken out in HIVES, but it was so severe that it classified as a virus. I have gone over and over in my mind if she had any different food, or exposure to anything and nothing comes to mind. Anyway, they gave her some prescriptions and we were on our way. And she is doing much better now!
Not an hour later I get a phone call from a VIP staff member at the dental school explaining to me that she had Brett in her office and is afraid to let him drive home. I am like what...okay I will be right there. So it turns out that he had pretty much passed out and was feeling very ill. By the time I got there, he had been taken to the health clinic. I entered there and was told not to bring my kids in because there were many patients with H1N1, swine flu. So here I am trying to see my husband, but can't because they won't let me go back with my kids, hmmmmmm? Luckily our good friend, a fellow dental student, said he would watch them for a second. I finally get to Brett and he had a mask on, as they suspect he too has the swine flu! As it turns out he did have the flu, but it had run it's course and now he has an infection, so after taking my patients home and getting Brett's prescriptions now, everyone was resting and recovering. So what a day! Glad it is over!
But wait while this was happening in our family, Brett's Dad was in the hospital having a pacemaker put in, after the surgery was complete and he was resting one of his wires came out, so they had to redo the surgery! Everything went well after that and he is now home resting and recovering as well! We love you!
We are so very blessed even when we face these small trials, it can only make us stronger!

Are you expecting the rest of the family to get the flu now? What a miserable day. Rashes are the pits - they can be caused by anything, even different laundry soap or softener!

Wow. Sorry to hear about that day! Hopefully there are no repeats any time soon! Hope everyone gets better soon!
